چکیده

Introduction The protozoan parasite Trichomonas vaginalis is the most common cellular sexually transmitted disease in humans, and closely related species gallinae an avian of ecological economic importance. Phylogenetic evidence suggests T. arose during bird to human transmission a -like ancestor. shares strong clinical association with independent pathogen Metamycoplasma (formerly Mycoplasma ) hominis , uncultured bacterium “ Candidatus Malacoplasma girerdii,” latter being order magnitude stronger. Both bacterial have been shown profoundly influence growth, energy production virulence-associated mechanisms. Methods Evidence for novel sp. was discovered by vivo Illumina metatranscriptomics sequencing -infected pigeon mouth. We leveraged published 16S rDNA profiling data from digestive tract 12 healthy 24 pigeons investigate between . utilised metagenomics targeted oral crop samples infected generate its full-length genome sequence. Sequence similarity network analysis used compare annotated proteins range other species. Results Here we present species, Ca. M. that strongly associated upper domestic pigeons. Analysis sequence revealed gene features apparently specific -symbiotic lineage. Discussion These support model long-term spp. has conserved across diversification lineage host barrier birds human.

Bone Marrow Transplantation Concurrently Reconstitutes Donor Liver and Immune System across Host Species Barrier in Mice

Liver immunopathologic mechanisms during hepatotropic infection, malignant transformation, and autoimmunity are still unclear. Establishing a chimeric mouse with a reconstituted liver and immune system derived from a single donor across species is critical to study regional donor immune responses in recipient liver. Using a strain of mice deficient in tyrosine catabolic enzyme fumarylacetoaceta...

Evolutionary conservation—evaluating the adaptive potential of species

Despite intense efforts, biodiversity around the globe continues to decrease. To cease this phenomenon, we urgently need a better knowledge not only of the true extent of biodiversity, but also of the evolutionary potential of species to respond to environmental change. These aims are the heart of the developing field of Evolutionary conservation. Here, after describing problems associated with...

The actin-based machinery of Trichomonas vaginalis mediates flagellate-amoeboid transition and migration across host tissue.

Trichomonas vaginalis is the most widespread non-viral pathogen of the human urogenital tract, infecting ∼ 3% of the world's population annually. At the onset of infection the protist changes morphology within minutes: the flagellated free-swimming cell converts into the amoeboid-adherent stage. The molecular machinery of this process is not well studied, but is thought to involve actin reorgan...

Evolutionary conservation of a phosphate transporter in the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis.

Arbuscular mycorrhizae are ancient symbioses that are thought to have originated >400 million years ago in the roots of plants, pioneering the colonization of terrestrial habitats. In these associations, a key process is the transfer of phosphorus as inorganic phosphate to the host plant across the fungus-plant interface. Mycorrhiza-specific phosphate transporter genes and their regulation are ...
